Hygiene / Hospital Hygiene - microbiological-hygienic tests

In health care, hygiene / hospital hygiene is an essential component for infection control and thus for maintaining health. The effectiveness of preventive measures to ensure a standard of hygiene requires regular monitoring, especially of surfaces and room air. For testing surface hygiene, contact plates are suitable for sampling surfaces using the stamping method. Airborne germs can be collected on airborne germ collection plates, which are laid out at defined locations over a defined period of time and passively collect the sedimenting airborne germs.

The sampling is carried out directly by the personnel responsible for hygiene control in accordance with the respective specifications and does not require any special qualification. After sending the samples to the testing laboratory, the incubation in an incubator takes place over 24 h to max. 7 days. The microorganism colonies formed during this process are then counted. The number of colonies grown then corresponds to the number of colony-forming units (CFU, individual microorganisms or groups of microorganisms adhering to each other) that were originally located on the sampled area or measuring point. Optionally, a further germ identification by visual inspection and subsequent Gram staining as well as tests using selective media can be carried out, alternatively also an exact identification of the species of the microorganisms by means of DNA sequencing.

The evaluation is carried out according to the specific requirements of the client or can also be carried out on the basis of the hygiene requirements according to VDI guideline 6022:2018-01 part 1.

This service is included in the scope of accreditation of CleanControlling Medical under the DAkkS accreditation Reg. No. D-PL-19887-01-01.
