THC determination of solvent-soluble organic contaminants.

THC as a sum parameter for the solvent-soluble organic residues (process auxiliaries, especially oils, greases, lubricants, etc.).

The determination of solvent-soluble hydrocarbons (Total HydroCarbon, THC) is an essential component of tests within the scope of validation or monitoring of the final cleaning of medical devices.

THC determination, in conjunction with cytotoxicity tests, bioburden determinations, endotoxin tests, and particulate tests, is an essential component for determining the surface cleanliness of medical devices, especially after final cleaning.

The THC allows the quantification of solvent-soluble hydrocarbons and provides a sum parameter for solvent-soluble organic residues such as process aids (e.g. lubricants, coolants, etc.).

The result is given in the test report as a sum parameter of the solvent-soluble hydrocarbons in µg/test item.

Test procedure

Extraction Extraction of the product with solvant
Measurement Measurement of the TOC of the extract
Analysis Calculation of the TOC per test object
Unit µg/test object
