Asbestos and WHO fiber testing

Especially during the demolition of old buildings, asbestos fibers or synthetic mineral fibers (SMF) are often present. Although these materials are characterized by their excellent insulation and fire protection properties, respirable fibers in particular (so-called WHO fibers) are highly carcinogenic. Using SEM/EDX, such fibers can be characterized and the associated carcinogenicity index determined.
